Hedge Trimming & Hedge Removal

Providing Quality Tree Services Throughout Abergavenny

All types of hedges need regular trimming to help them stay looking neat and tidy, and to avoid them becoming a nuisance by encroaching on paths and driveways. If you have a newly planted hedge, it will need formative pruning for the first couple of years after planting. Formative pruning is usually carried out in winter or spring.

After this, maintenance hedge trimming is carried out, usually once a year for informal hedges and twice a year for formal hedges. Some formal hedges may even need three cuts a year. Maintenance trimming is generally carried out between spring and summer.

To help you decide when to employ someone to cut your hedges, the best timings for pruning hedges are shown below:

Deciduous Hedges

 •   Formative Pruning - in winter, just after planting, and for the first two years

 •   Maintenance Pruning - each summer

Evergreen Hedges

 •   Formative Pruning - in the spring after planting and for the first two years

 •   Maintenance Pruning - each summer

We are equipped to trim hedges of all shapes and sizes and always ensure we leave the area neat and tidy so you don't have to worry about disposing of the clippings or debris.  We welcome one-off hedge trimming jobs or can schedule regular hedge maintenance as required.

Do you have a large hedge that needs removing?

These days we are finding more and more clients need to remove large conifer hedges that were planted 20-30 years ago when these were all the rage as a hedging option. They will now have grown to be very tall and in most cases unmanageable but this poses no problem for us - we can fell and remove such hedges with ease so please get in touch if you would like some advice or a quote.
